Venice is a magical city. It looks to be right out of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie set, with boats lining the canals, and the every building brightly colored and reflecting red, yellows, and blues against the water. As the sun sets the lighted lanterns strung up along the cafes and restaurants add to that ambiance.
After a day of watching the Regatta boat racing, shopping at the outdoor markets, and strolling through St. Marks square delightfully dancing in the square to the live violin and piano music which serenades you as you stroll by, we decided to contribute to the over all splendor of the moment...it was after my husbands birthday...so we decided to create our own paradise within this already serene and magical destination..
We found a little pizzeria and four slices of incredible pizza and a lovely bottle of champagne and we had a picnic, canal side. We at our pizza and drank a local sparking wine while sitting on the canal bank...this caught the attention people passing by laughing and smiling as they walked by. A local artist looked up from her sketch pad and offered to take a photos for us. Venice was magical in so many way.
